The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology hosted a student mixer for college students home in Salinas over the holidays. Eighteen agricultural students from UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO, Fresno State, CSUMB, Hartnell College, and UC Irvine all came to see the Innovation Center in the Taylor Farms building.
The ag students were treated to a presentation by Dennis Donohue on the new opportunities available to students that want to return to Salinas, California, after they graduate from college with their degree. He also discussed the prospects agtech is allowing for in the local Salinas economy. Additionally, the students got to hear from five of the agtech startups that reside in the Innovation Center: iFood Decision Sciences, Inteligistics, HeavyConnect, Tailwater Systems, and Biolumic.
Many of the students discussed following up with the start-up companies as they approach summer break or graduation, and resumes were exchanged after the event… so this story is to be continued!
