Wexus Technologies from San Francisco, has joined the Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology as its sixteenth resident. Chris Terrell founded Wexus with the idea that his business and technology would directly address environmental impact. “With Wexus, growers have better tools and actionable insights to optimize and manage their utility bills, energy costs, overall energy usage, peak usage and surcharges, and utility rates,” said Terrell in a WGCIT Guest Blog.
Wexus Technologies’ website notes that “every year the cost of agriculture increases. …Operational expenses are quickly outpacing crop sales prices. Quality and yield expectations are higher than ever before. Growers feel squeezed.” Terrell and his team spent time talking to growers in the Salinas Valley and Monterey County, and built their business around optimizing water usage, and lowering energy costs.
