July was an exciting month, and the Forbes AgTech Summit brought the WGCIT a lot of positive exposure in the AgTech arena. We had four startups join the WGCIT in July: WaterBit, PalleTech, SWIIM, and Food Origins.
· WaterBit provides growers with low-cost moisture sensing systems to improve crop quality, increase yields, and optimize resources.
· PalleTech helps growers, shippers, farmers, and producers demand the most from their supply chains by manufacturing smart pallets. PalleTech pallets have all the technology built right into the pallet, and assist the distributor be FDA-compliant, ensure the quality of perishable good, and, ultimately, maximize their monetary return.
· SWIIM is an acronym for Sustainable Water and Innovative Irrigation Management; the SWIIM system allows a grower integrated crop and water management. The SWIIM system includes software, instrumentation, and a remote sensing package that acts as an agricultural water user’s “on-farm water accountant.”
· Food Origins provides precision harvest data to companies that utilize labor hand harvesting fruits and vegetables. Food Origins also produces unique labels that register location, package, and employee ID information as the product is being field packed. Food Origins technology assists the growers with food safety traceability and atypical labor payment options.
