The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology (WGCIT) is supporting efforts to accelerate the development and adoption of agricultural technology in Portugal, Canada and the United Kingdom.
This morning, WGCIT Director Dennis Donohue and Geovisual Analytics (a startup housed in the WGCIT) worked with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to provide Portugal with an update on the state agtech in California. The panels and seminars featured in the “AgTech and Climate Smart Agriculture” virtual event focused on best practices for enhancing collaboration between Portugal and California to advance technology and research in agriculture.
This event comes on the heels of hosting the Canadian Consulate’s AgTech Accelerator Cohort this past Wednesday. Nine companies virtually presented to a group of Grower Trial Network participants, including Turlock Fruit Company General Manager and Western Growers Board Member Neill Callis. Canada was the WGCIT’s first international sponsor!
Next Wednesday, the WGCIT will be organizing a virtual session at the Agri-TechE REAP Conference to inform delegates in the U.K. about the challenges California growers are facing and the potential solutions that are being developed. The “Live Conservation with Grimmway Farms Director of Innovation and New Technology Jeff Morrison” will be a Q&A between Donohue and Morrison on how technology can solve the most pressing issues facing the specialty crop industry.
