On August 17, nearly 20 startups attended a virtual presentation with Adam Bergman, the managing director of EcoTech Capital, to learn about the current capital raising environment for agtech and foodtech companies.
Adam, who is a sustainability executive leader with over 20 years’ investment banking experience, built an industry leading agtech and foodtech investment banking practice, creating a broad ecosystem to help drive adoption of technology and innovation throughout the broad food and agriculture value chain. During the virtual presentation, he shared what he views are the current trends for the ag and food technology ecosystem.
“Investors are funding companies that can profit from integrating latest tech and exploiting inefficiencies throughout the food & ag value chain,” he noted during the presentation.
He also focused on how COVID-19 is affecting investment areas and explained to startups how financing is different in today’s environment than pre-COVID-19. Additionally, he provided insight on how agtech companies are raising capital in a challenging economy with a volatile financial market.
“Despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the agtech and foodtech sector continues to be one of the most active investment areas,” he said.
The event, which was moderated and organized by Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology Director Dennis Donohue, was offered exclusively to current residents of the Center.
