The Western Growers Center for Innovation & Technology (WGCIT) had an open house on June 16, 2021, to officially “reopen” the Center after a short hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event allowed for entrepreneurs to mingle with WGCIT sponsors and WG member farmers. Dennis Donohue, the director of the Center, formally introduced Walt Duflock to the WGCIT community. Walt Duflock was named the Western Growers Vice President of Innovation in October 2020, but had not been able to meet many of the agtech innovators due to COVID-19 safeguards. Walt was able to share his vast experience with the WGCIT community and introduce the latest innovation initiatives.
The open house was planned for the afternoon following Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement that the state of California was reopen for business and social distancing requirements were being modified. The WGCIT had a terrific turnout with over 20 agtech entrepreneurs and sponsors of the Center.
The following Facebook album shows Walt’s toast to reopen the Center, Dennis’ welcome to the residents, and the networking that the open house allowed for: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=wgcit&set=a.3086541488241453
